FLORENCE, AL – The University of 鶹 Alabama has announced its list of Homecoming Award winners for this year’s celebration, which is set to take place Oct. 17-18. The winners will be formally recognized at the annual Homecoming Alumni and Friends Celebration scheduled for Oct. 17 in the banquet halls of the Guillot University Center.

“Our committee to select the winners came together this summer, and it is always a difficult task to narrow down the list of nominees to the winners,” said Justin “Bishop” Alexander, the Director of Alumni Relations. “We are pleased to share these names and to celebrate them, their achievements, and their families as part of our Homecoming festivities in October.”

This year’s winners are:

  • Lifetime Achievement: Sabrina Clark ’85, of Florence, is a graduate of the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions. She is recognized for more than 40 years of excellence in nursing and mentoring future generations at UNA.
  • Alumni of the Year: Blake McDaniel ’97 ’99, of Nashville, Tenn., is a graduate of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering as well as the Sanders College of Business and Technology. The renowned entertainment executive and UNA advocate is known for his work with Grammy-winning and Oscar-winning artists.
  • Friend of the University: Briget McCabe, of Lynnfield, Mass., is honored for her philanthropic contributions and heartfelt support of the Marching Pride as well as the nursing and engineering programs.
  • Young Alumni of the Year: Lamonte Thompson ’16, of Florence, is a College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering graduate. The former NFL athlete is recognized for his role as a successful entrepreneur and community leader.

The Homecoming Alumni and Friends Celebration, sponsored by The Florence-Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau, is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the banquet halls of the GUC; tickets are available here.
